Recently, I had an opportunity to read "The Globalization of White Supremacy: Toward a Critical Discourse on The Racialization of The World" by Ricky Lee Allen (Educational Theory 51(4), 2001, 467-485).
In what follows, I will reproduce verbatim extracts from the aforementioned article which provide supporting evidence for the thesis advanced by M. Shahid Alam concerning the racial foundation(s) of capitalism and the priority of race over class in analysing the nature of "The World System". (Alam's thesis is discussed in "Articulating Group Differences: A Variety of Autocentrisms" which appeared in Science and Society in 2003 and in "Is Eurocentrism Unique?" which appeared in CounterPunch in 2002.)
