The idea of a 'global currency' as a NEW development is a deceit/con/trick, designed to promote con-fusion, and not just because the idea has been around a while (at least 20 years although it is much older than that).
This is because, from a counter-Racist perspective, the real global currency is not paper (or gold or grain or shells), but people - people/currency of worth [=white people] and worthless people/currency [=non-white people]. There is a defining 'currency' [=criterion/yardstick/metric] and there are defined 'currencies'. White (Supremacist) 'money' has (is) worth(ful); non-white 'money' is worth-less.
From an Islamic counter-Racist perspective, RIBA-nomics [=The Laws of Unjust Increase/Exploitation/Leverage] has been global since Racism (White Supremacy) was established as a globally operating system dominating in all major areas of activity including Economics, Education, Entertainment, Labour, Language, Law, Politics, Religion, Sex and War.

The White-Supremacist (Racist), the late Napoleon was the guy on record who envisioned a single world currency begining in Europe, and battled against his White brothers and sisters and cousins to attempting achieve it. On May 6, 1807, he wrote to the 'King' of Naples: "Brother, when you issue coins, I would like you to adopt the same valuations as in French money. In this way, there will be uniformity all over Europe (The World) which will be a great advantage for trade." (ncluding the 'Slave' Trade no doubt. The first Lira was coined in the Milan Mint in 1808.
